[Press Release] The 9th Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival Announces the Top 5 Submission Finalists

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kuala Lumpur, MalaysiaAugust 5th 2016 – The 9th International Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival 2016 (KLEFF2016) announced that 249 films were accepted for the competition from 334 submissions. Of the accepted films, top 5 films for each of the 6 categories have been selected as finalists of the KLEFF2016. However, the JKR-UNDP Energy Efficiency in Building Award and the Special Jury Award finalists will be announced by the 12th of August 2016.

KLEFF Festival Director, Fadly Bakhtiar said, “It has not been an easy task evaluating over 300 films from 45 countries, but the EcoKnights film selection committee soldiered on to choose the best films submitted for the KLEFF2016”.

“We are excited to share with you some information on both the amazing local and international films that we have selected 5 from for each category; Best Feature Film/Full-Length Documentary, Best Short Documentary/TV Documentary, Best Short Film, Public Service Announcements (PSA), as well as Best Animation. The finalists for JKR-UNDP Energy Efficiency in Building Award and the Special Jury Award, however, will be announced by the 12th of August” added Fadly. During the KLEFF2016, we will also be screening 9 must-watch films.

Due to the overwhelming submissions this year, it is impossible for us to screen all films in the span of three days.  The jury committee had to make tough decision and selected almost 90 films to be screened this year at the festival. Rest assured, our goal is to keep spreading the important environmental messages through films to as many people in Malaysia and we are working hard to look for potential partners to screen the remaining films for this year. We truly appreciate your understanding and support on this matter.
