Environmental activist Julia Kolevatova devoted her life to saving the nature of the Izdrevaya River, a small river in the Siberia, where her childhood passed. When she became an adult, Julia drew attention to the ecological problems of the river, then Izdrevaya simply perished: its banks were littered with rubbish, and birch forests were cut around. She began to clean the river and the surrounding territory, organized local youth and volunteers for this, set up garbage disposal from the dacha societies, and taught the local population to live in harmony with nature. When regional authorities decided to build a garbage processing plant and a solid waste landfill near the Izdrevaya River, together with local people actively opposed this, she arranged protest actions, and as a result, the construction was suspended, and the place for landfill revised. In these places, a specially protected natural area was created.
